Why did I choose this scope over the others? It meets the form, fit, function and best value (FFFBV) I require. At first I was originally looking for a NF 2.5-10x24 FC2, found out it isn’t offered anymore, why cuz I own 2 of them and they work (FFFBV (375H&H and 416 Rem Mag)). Was wanting one of them for my newly acquired DB 6.5 Grendel. First scope tried was 1-8x24 that begins with a Vortex, 40 rounds later off it came. On went my tru-glo 1-6x24, held zero was able to use gun for a deer hunt, still not quite happy. So while on the trip I came across this website called scope list. First seen the NF specials yes they still have the 2.5x10 range however not the reticle I prefer, or outside of my budget. Then the Leica special, just didn’t quite like the reticles offered, been horse bit by Vortex, skip over, Leopold own several, hard to go back after having a NF. Sig and others remind me to much of the Vortex. Seen the Swarovski, Schmidt & Bender and other Euro-optic ads, obviously a no brainer by just a tad outside my budget. Then came the Steiner ad, wait a minute I own a pair of 10x42 Predators awesome glass, could glass for hours on end and not feel like the eyes are pulling out of their sockets like lesser brands do. The details seen while watching animals saved lots of walking. Criteria met #1 Known quality glass and proven? Check. #2 Power range 2.5-10? Check. #3 30 mm tube? Check. #4 Warranty? Check (Steiner stands behind their products (past experiences)). #5 affordability? Yes still within my budget. Ordered the scope and thanks to Scope List staff got it coming my way, two days later it was at my door. Checked the contents and packaging, scope was well packed for shipment. No damage noted to the scope. Scope is what I expected for a Steiner product, crystal clear glass, can feel the craftsmanship in the product. I like the off feature of the battery between the brightness levels. Yes pros and cons to it. I look at it as a preset to my brightness level then turn it off just one click thus saving battery life an only one click from having my brightness level versus turning a dial several clicks or over half a rotation. As an elder/mentor said to me along time ago, buy a gun and put the money into the optics, it will save you in many ways in the long run. I have learned most of those lessons the hard way, and recently reminded myself of one of those lessons. If you buy this product you will not go wrong, if you are on the fence then go to any BP store and compare, NOTE: You have to be outside to compare optics, any store that won’t let you compare outside doesn’t really want to sell optics! Don’t be quick to opt on an optic, take your time and really compare, look at objects in the distance at different power settings and compare the details you can see. Then make your decision.
